England - Day 2
Day 2 was another beautiful day in Oundle. The sky was perfectly clear and the temperature was in the high 70s. A few locals that we met during the week told us that this was not typical weather for early May. How lucky we were to have it though! This was what we got to wake up to out of our window on the 4th floor of the Schmidty's house. Breathtaking!
Thursday we were getting up early to go to London, so we slept in pretty late on Wednesday. I hated to do that on vacation, but at the same time it was nice to get caught up after the lack of sleep on Monday night/Tuesday morning. After hanging out at their house in the morning, we took a walk with Jami and the kids to Gavin's school (he went in the afternoons). It was a good 2 miles to get there, so this was a perfect opportunity to see more of their town.
Gavin's school was by the high school, so these kids were walking back from lunch. We had a lot of fun people watching (and listening!).

How precious is this with Gavin waving at us out of the window!

After a long winter, this was such a beautiful site. There were so many beautiful gardens there.
On our way back from dropping off Gav, we stopped at The Ship (the local pub) for some lunch. This was the first of three times Andy ate his favorite meal, Bangers and mash (sausage over mashed potatoes). I have to admit, it was pretty tasty!

Later, we put Anna down for a nap and Andy and I did some exploring of Oundle. I thought this was a cute ATM :)
Many of the gorgeous old buildings are now associated with the boarding school.

That evening, Jami made a wonderful home cooked meal and we enjoyed the company of one of their friends from St. Louis who had just moved to England too. We went to bed pretty early that night so we could get up to make the train to London. Kyle dropped us off on his way to work, and Jami kept Anna. You guys are awesome! More to come!
